Why does Arizona Avenue have so many motels?

Because it used to be the state highway through town. In 1940, Arizona proposed State Route 87 along Arizona Avenue.

The new route linked Mesa to Casa Grande and Tucson. In 1941 the city even split its downtown park in two so the highway could run straight through.

Drivers stopped in Chandler to rest. The Chandler Museum's history site says many motels from that era still operate along the avenue.

One of them was built in 1950 at 445 N. Arizona Ave. After a remodel that started in 2019, it reopened in 2022 with 26 rooms.

Motel rooms on the avenue need the same few things every night. We wash all of them: sheets, pillowcases, and bath and pool towels.

We pick up from motels all along the avenue, and from basically anywhere else in Chandler.

If your linen closet is small, tell us. We plan pickup days around your room count and the shelf space you have.

Which downtown events draw crowds to Arizona Avenue?

Three city events, all in Dr. A.J. Chandler Park on Arizona Avenue. If your motel fills for them, your laundry grows with it.

  1. Dec

    Parade of Lights

Saturday, December 5, 2026, through downtown. Crowds average 18,000 to 20,000.

  2. Apr

    Four days of jazz

Thursday, April 1 to Sunday, April 4, 2027. The city puts average attendance at 12,000 to 15,000.

  3. Jul

    All-American Bash

July 4, 2027. Live music and fireworks, with 2,000 to 5,000 guests on average.

Let us know which of these nights book you up. We can set your pickup days with those dates in mind.

Should an Arizona Avenue motel buy its own sheets and towels?

We think so. When you own them, you pick the quality and you decide when to replace them.

Legacy Linen only washes customer-owned goods (COG). We do not rent linens. Every sheet, pillowcase and bath or pool towel gets a tag, so your own pieces come home.

Our prices are clear, with no hidden fees. That makes laundry costs easy to plan for a small property.

Questions from motels along Arizona Avenue

Do you pick up from motels in Uptown Chandler, near Warner Road?

Yes. We pick up from motels in Uptown, the same as downtown. Your pickup days are set with you.

Will the Parade of Lights on December 5 change our pickup?

It does not have to. Each motel's pickup days are agreed in advance, so we can choose a day that works around downtown events. Tell us early.

What do you wash for a motel on old Route 87?

Sheets, pillowcases, and bath and pool towels. We wash, press and fold them at our Phoenix plant and return the same pieces to you.
